Runways/Airports

I read about this last week but the longest runway at JFK airport in New York will close for 4 months for construction work and this will affect prices of flights to/from NY and create flight delays across the country this spring/early summer. I have known about some long runways for several years as DIA in Denver has some of the longest in the world and I went to Woodstock 99 at an old Air Force base and the concert stages were out in the airfield and the runway there was one of the world's longest for several decades.

The runway at JFK is 14,572 feet long and is a backup landing spot for the space shuttle.
The longest and highest commercial runway in the world is in Tibet at Qamdo Bangda airport and is 18,045 feet long.
There are a number of military runways around the world that are longer, of note are the ones at Edwards AFB in California which has 8 runways longer than the one in Tibet and the longest is over 39,000 feet long.
The runway I mentioned at DIA is the 4th longest commercial runway at 16,000 feet.
